Two middle school volleyball players, Hannah Scott and Taylor Ahn, attended their very first high school volleyball game this week, cheering on Rocklin High as the Thunder swept their opponent in three straight sets.
“We like volleyball a lot, and we play, so we wanted to see a game in action,” Ahn said. “We just came after practice, and we wanted to see the high schoolers play.”
Both said they were impressed by the speed and energy of the match. “I like it when they strike the ball. It’s really fun,” Scott said, adding that she also enjoys watching the players serve.
Even though this was their first time in the stands, the two said they were already drawn to the excitement. Scott and Ahn, who hope to play volleyball in high school, said the game gave them even more motivation to keep practicing. When asked whether they liked playing or watching more, both agreed that playing still comes first. “It’s kind of the same, but I really like playing it,” Ahn said.
Rocklin’s victory gave them plenty to cheer for — and, as young athletes, plenty to look forward to.
