Every year, the Rocklin High School Choir displays their spooky side during the yearly Creepy Concert. Each choir ensemble sang unique yet chilling songs inspired by the Halloween season. This year, the choir included a collaboration performance with the RHS Orchestra. The piece included a mix of dark voices while adding in the delicate sounds of the string players. After many months of preparation, students showcased their hard work through their songs and confidence.
To kick off their show, singer Shelby Doushgouni sang a heartfelt solo for the women’s ensemble. She explained that despite it being her first show she was ready to perform by saying, “[I] just took a few deep breaths, and went out there and crushed it.” Not only does the concert give creepy vibes, but it can also scare new performers who have yet to experience a RHS VAPA show. However, Doushgouni goes on to say, “I’m looking forward to our winter concert. It’s [a] really great and fun experience.” She continued on to explain that the choir ensembles are already starting to prepare for the winter concert, saying “We are immediately getting into our winter stuff.” On the flip side, singer Jacob Duckham said that both choir and Orchestra got little to no time to prepare and practice for their song together by saying, “We had [Mr.] Hayman come into our room and he showed us what tempo he was gonna go. But we never really preformed with them prior to the Creepy Concert.” Despite their lack of practice with the Orchestra, the choir showed their talent and strong voices during all their performances in the Creepy Concert.
