Art show to feature best in the school

Show+Off

High school is all about sports. Football and basketball get all the glory; every other extracurricular goes unnoticed. At RHS, however, things are different. Everyone is uplifted, everyone is recognized, and everyone is celebrated.

This week, 75 of the best drawings and paintings from 2013-2014 RHS Art classes will be showcased alongside the Advanced Dance Show. The Art Show will take place May 15-17 in the gym lobby from 6-9 p.m.

Art teacher Ms. Nancy Hayes has carefully selected student pieces from various classes in order to accommodate limited space. Every student in AP Studio Art will have their work in the show, and many Art II and III students will be showcased as well. Even a small group of Art I students will be included.

Alexa Coleman, a junior enrolled in Art III who was showcased both her freshman and sophomore years, will have three pieces on display at this week’s show.

“I feel really proud and honored that she [Hayes] has put my art in the show. It makes me feel good that someone is actually going to see my art,” she said.

The best work of countless other students will also be displayed in what is sure to be a dazzling show that encourages community, creativity, and artistic expression.
