Christian Boy Bands Send a Message through Music

Ever want to listen to a great song but not the artist who originally sang it?

Anthem Lights is a Christian boy band from Nashville, Tennessee. The singers, Chad Graham, Joseph Stamper, Alan Powell, and Caleb Grimm sing many covers as well as their own music.

In most covers they do, they like to mash in another song that ties into the message of the song itself, making it different from any other artists’ music.

In being a Christian boy band, they like to cover songs that have a good message as well as a tie to what they believe in. In this cover album, “Anthem Lights Covers Part 2” they definitely picked the right songs.

1. “Heart Attack” This song was originally sung by Demi Lovato. The song is about a girl who doesn’t want to fall in love even though this boy loves her. Instead of from the girl’s point of view, Anthem Lights twisted it around so it is from the heartbroken boy’s point of view. The acoustic, piano-played cover is sung back and forth with powerful vocals and great emotion.

2. “Mirrors” by Justin Timberlake. Starting out with beautiful harmony, the song is wonderfully put together. Talking about the promises of never leaving your true love, Anthem Lights provides powerful sonants and a twist that has “Man in the Mirror” by Michael Jackson working its way into this hit.

3. “Roar” by Katy Perry. This song, about standing up for yourself, creates an inspiring vibe and uplifting lyrics that make you want to sing a long. The bridge is a portion of the 1982 hit “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor.

4. “What About Love” initially sung by Austin Mahone. Using their voices as their instruments, Anthem Lights create a hopelessly in love feeling. “Where is the Love” by Black Eyed Peas sneaks its way into this harmonized song.

5. “Justin Timberlake Mash-Up” This song is put together by Anthem Lights and includes Justin Timberlake’s songs “Senorita”, “My Love”, “Cry Me a River”, “What Goes Around (Comes Around)”, “Love Stoned”, “Suit and Tie”, and “Take Back the Night.” Going back and forth between the songs creates a new element of Justin Timberlake’s hits.

6. “Best of 2013 Mash-Up” This amazingly harmonized composure puts all of this year’s pop hits into one package. This track includes hits like “Cruise” by Florida Georgia Line, “The Other Side” by Jason Derulo, “Lego House” by Ed Sheeran, and many more.

7. “Taylor Swift Mash-Up” Like the “Justin Timberlake Mash-Up”, this song brings Taylor Swift’s hits such as “Love Story”, “You Belong to Me”, “Back to December”, “Mean”, and more. Sung to a catchy beat, Anthem Lights bring many different songs into one composed and harmonized track.

8. “Man in the Mirror” by Michael Jackson. The carefully sung cover is the full and untouched song. Chad sings the high notes, catching your attention, while Alan, Joseph, and Caleb sing the lower notes and they all harmonize as one.

9. “Give Me a Lifetime” by Anthem Lights. Even though it is on a cover album, Anthem Lights sing an original song. This song talks about wanting to spend a lifetime with someone you love. The deep emotion and soulful lyrics give it a beautiful tone that can’t be recreated

People looking for a different sound or something new should definitely listen to this album. If you are looking for new artists but old songs, you’ll find it here.
