On May 6th, the Rocklin Thunder Varsity Softball team took on Whitney in their last regular-season game. Though the game remained competitive for a while, Whitney ended up winning 5-0. With the loss, the Thunder cap off their regular season record at 19-5. That lands them a spot at 3rd in league as they wait to find out who they will face in the playoffs. Head coach Scott Luciano said, “Im really excited because we’ve had a great year thus far. Obviously, that’s not how we wanted to end the year, but we know Whitney’s a good team, but we’ve had a great season leading into this.” Despite the loss, the team ended with a great record and has a lot of momentum heading into playoffs. Luciano said, “We had a lot of positives… We had some players come in and do the job. Im excited about that because our whole roster stays focused in the game.”
As the playoffs approach, the Thunder now turn their focus toward preparing for postseason competition. With a strong regular season behind them and confidence built from months of success, the team hopes to make a deep playoff run. Last season, the Thunder lost to Whitney in the section championship, and look to make it right back to the sections and changer he outcome this time.
