On Friday, Oct. 3, the Rocklin Thunder took on their crosstown rivals, the Whitney Wildcats, in the annual Quarry Bowl- and for the tenth straight year, the Thunder came out on top. Rocklin dominated on both sides of the ball to secure the win, extending their decade-long streak of victories over Whitney in front of a packed, high-energy crowd.
Head coach Jason “Coach” Adams said he was proud of how his team performed under the lights.
Adams said he was “just excited for our kids to get to play in this environment. Both schools come out and show out on a big stage. As a high school kid, I never got to play in something like this. Fans were rockin’ and rollin’, just like they are right now. We had a ton of kids make great plays, and Whitney competed their butts off. It was a great high school event tonight.”
Coming off a tough game last week, Rocklin’s preparation and focus showed immediate results. Adams said the team’s success started long before kickoff.
He said, “Our response was huge. We didn’t play as well as we’re capable of last week, and it really started Saturday morning in the weight room. Our kids reset, refocused, and prepared better — and it showed immediately. We started faster, played better, and when our quarterback’s making great decisions and playing fast and accurate, we’re a really explosive team.”
With the win marking Rocklin’s tenth consecutive Quarry Bowl victory, Adams reflected on what the streak means to the program.
He said, “We don’t think about that each matchup. Each week, it’s about preparing the same way. I’m thankful we have this rivalry, I really am, but we treat it like any other opponent. It’s kind of a faceless opponent — we try not to get too much into that because it sucks the energy out of what we’re really trying to get done.”
The Thunder now look ahead to the remainder of their league schedule with renewed momentum, aiming to carry the same discipline and intensity into next week’s matchup and beyond.
