On August 29th, the Rocklin Thunder took down Bishop Manogue 28-23 in a well played game. The Thunder suffered a big loss early, with star Senior Josiah Andrews suffering an injury in the first quarter. Explosive plays by both teams made the first half a back-and-forth battle. The Thunder went into halftime down 3, but after a motivating halftime speech by Senior Asher Runnion and Head Coach Jason Adams, the Thunder took the field as a different team in the second half.
The Thunder came out for the second half hungry and marched right down the field to take the lead with a touchdown by Junior Luke May. The Thunder’s defense held strong against Bishop’s passing attack and was able to create some essential stops during crucial moments of the game. The playmakers for Rocklin were showcased on offense, and Senior Greyson Smith delivered a dagger in the fourth quarter with a deep catch for a touchdown worthy of a highlight reel. Bishop would punch in another score within the final 30 seconds, but all hopes for a comeback were taken away after Rocklin recovered the onside kick.
With the win, Rocklin is now 2-0 for the season, with another exciting test against the Lincoln Trojans (Stockton) coming up.
