RHS held its annual back-to-school carnival during the second day of the school year from 8:55 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.
Staff and volunteers had set up the school with various activities that students could freely participate in during the event. Drinks and snacks were provided at booths.
For freshmen, who have only been at RHS for two days now, being with friends elevated many of their carnival experiences. “I could see without having any friends, it would be very hard to actually enjoy this, “ said Eshan Mukkalama, a freshman at RHS.
Friends Troy Cardanini and Colin Dearcos, both freshman at RHS, had stuck with each other throughout the event, participating in the same games. For Cardanini, his favorite activity was darts, “just because it’s fun and easy,” he said. Being with those familiar to an individual in an unfamiliar environment can ease tensions one may feel. As for being at the carnival with Cardanini, Dearcos said, “It made me get closer to [him].”
