On Friday, May 9th, the Rocklin Thunder Baseball team took on the Turlock Bulldogs in the Quarterfinals of the CIF Sac-Joaquin Division 1 Baseball playoffs. Pitcher Andrew Hancock pitched an incredible game, only allowing two runs in the entire game, those two runs stemming from the 4th inning only. Other than that, Hancock pitched five shutout innings. “I’m out here with my team, and they produce for me, so I produce for them, that’s just how I do it,” Hancock said.
The bats did produce, putting up a total of nine hits and 4 runs. Though the team had a run drought in the last two innings, they could still get the job done. Key plays from Troy Ueltzen, who caused the first score of the game off a sacrifice RBI. Another highlight is player of the game Nick Coleman, who hit his first career home run today. “I play for my guys and win for my guys and keep going,” said Coleman. Coleman raked
up two hits and one RBI.
The Thunder advance to the Semi Finals, where they will play a three game series against the winner of the Oak Ridge vs Franklin game. The Thunder hope have back to back section appearances, but this year, in hopes of taking the whole thing and being crowned section champs.
