Quarry Park Adventures Opens This Summer

Rocklin’s New Golden Nugget

It is a common statement among the youth of Rocklin, California; “Rocklin is so boring, there’s nothing to do around here!”

Unless one is planning a vibrant excursion to some coastal getaway, the question of how to spend the summer months is often met with a blank stare or indeterminate shrug.

Fortunately, the feel of a coastal getaway may now be closer than originally thought – you may not even need to pack a suitcase.

The debut of Rocklin Quarry Park Adventures, set to open late this July, will offer the thrill-seeking adventures, lakeside lounging, and kids’ attractions reminiscent of a traditional dream resort.

Originally approved by the city council last January, Quarry Park Adventures will feature ziplines, a kids zone and three-leveled ropes course, bungee jumping into the quarry, and lounging around at Quinn lake among other attractions. The “Rocklin Roundhouse” will also offer food, gift shops, and a 2,000 square foot deck from which to view the quarry.

Each of these attractions is aimed at reaching a wide audience of potential guests, ranging from the young and old, the daring thrill-seekers, and even those who would rather sit on

the deck and absorb some sun, leaving the wilder attractions to be a mere backdrop to the extraordinary view of the quarry.

David Busch, president of Quarry Park Adventures points to some of the new theme park’s greatest feats; “There are elements of this park that have never been designed before in the world” he said.

Quarry Park Adventures is already showing promise. Even after the 3.25 million dollar investment to construct the park, about 700 season passes have a

lready been sold (even before one can get a taste of what the park has to offer.)

“I think it will be super exciting and cool! A great place to try and experience new super fun stuff,” said Kate Johnson, a junior at RHS.

This degree of public excitement is exactly what the city of Rocklin is looking for. According to Rocklin’s city memorandum in regards to passing construction on the site, Quarry Park Adventures is intended to breathe new life into downtown Rocklin.

They hope to “Promote the city… increase tourism, and attract businesses” among other things. So far, their goals seem headed in the right direction.

However, the question still remains. Will this summer be an exciting one? Though the age-old curse of summer boredom may never truly be relinquished, Rocklin’s Quarry Park Adventures will surely take the edge off. Even if only a little.
