Round Table Clubhouse: Not Your Classic Pizzeria

Logan Bik

Pizza, Pub, Play. This is the motto of the new Round Table Clubhouse located on the corner of Stanford Ranch and Sunset Blvd. This new pizza parlor is a way for the whole family to have an enjoyable experience.

However, I believe the new design of the restaurant is a bit of an overkill.

The new clubhouse has a bar for the adults, ranging from beer on tap to wines fresh from the vineyard. This can create a more enjoyable environment for the adults amidst the chaos of the screaming kids.

It also has a wanna-be Chuck E Cheese arcade. They lack the basic pinball and pacman and instead have a skeeball and a virtual carnival game. The games are also overpriced. If they want to add an arcade to their pizza parlor, it may as well be a decent one.

On the other hand, they do have a futuristic reward system. All of the ‘tickets’ are loaded onto a card where they are transferable for arcade prizes. The prizes range from stick on mustaches to small drones. This allows for all ages to receive a prize that they actually want, even though their parents will probably just end up throwing it in the trash a few days later.

The food has also changed. The classic pizza that Round Table is known for is still available. However, the new menu includes a wide range of appetizers while people wait for their pizza, such as chicken wings, mozzarella sticks, onion rings and salads.

The chicken wings are average. Nothing too special, but they definitely got the stomach filled, making them an overall success.

The restaurant has also tried to branch out into a broader range of entrees. They have added four different types of burgers. Many years ago, Round Table served burgers, so this is a return to tradition rather than a new item.

Customer reactions to the new menu vary extensively.

“The burger was very strange; it had pepperoni on it and just was not my favorite meal. However the new layout was kind of cool, allowing for the kids to have an arcade and parents to relax at the bar” said Lindsay Stark.

This new idea of a pizza parlor could be paving the path for other renovations. However, I don’t mind a small little pizza joint as long as the PIZZA is delicious. Because let’s be real, we go to a pizza parlor to eat pizza.
