Advanced Dance Show: Out of this World

Rebecca Michael

Dancing is something that people have been doing for centuries. It is one of the many aspects that make people human. Here at RHS, the dance program is pretty amazing, and it was displayed during the advanced dance show that started on March 3.

The show started out with the Dance 4 class dancing to music from cultures all over the world. Afterwards, the dance show didn’t revolve so much around other cultures, and went into other routines.

Like any dance show, there were some slow songs, one of which had the popular song “House of the Rising Sun” by The Animals. The dance focused on a girl wearing a loose black shirt, surrounded by others that seemed to be wearing military-esque outfits. The other girls tried to restrict the one that was left out, trying to stop her from dancing, it seemed. It was a nice interpreted dance and was enjoyable to watch.

One of the other dances was an all boys group that wore glow in the dark masks as they danced to a mash-up of Drake songs. The dance had more of a hip hop vibe, and was entertaining to see, as it kept you captivated by their astounding dance moves.

The last dance of the night was the seniors dance, where all of the seniors in the dance classes danced for one last time together in a dance show at RHS. All of the dancers were wearing blue Rocklin apparel, a tradition in each advanced dance show. The dance was fun to watch and had a positive aura to it. It was truly an amazing, and bittersweet, sight to see.

The dance show, overall, was enjoyable and fun. The dance program here at RHS showed off their skills once again, proving that we have the best dancers around. I’m looking forward to next year’s show, which should be just as amazing as this year’s.
