Edible Snow

Edible Snow

Few people know that shave snow is something that you can eat. It doesn’t sound normal: we all know that snow falls from the sky and is cold, fluffy and generally not anywhere near Rocklin. But, since Shave Monster opened in Rocklin, there has been a change in that.

Everyone likes frozen yogurt and ice cream, so the idea of flavored snow is strange and almost seems like a form of shave ice. While this seems to be true, the shaved snow or, “snow fluff” as Shave Monster calls it, did have a different texture than ice cream and frozen yogurt. In addition to the snow fluff, they offer traditional smoothies and ice cream, supporting Gunther’s Ice Cream.

The flavors in the snow fluff and smoothie were both very strong. This didn’t make them terrible, but it was definitely different. The smoothie was big and there didn’t seem to be multiple sizes. It would definitely be hard to finish in one sitting, and the same goes for things like the Mangoladon (a combination of mango snow fluff, ice cream and sauce) and the Almond Joy combination on their specials menu.

However, you do have the opportunity to build your own snow fluff. They have different flavors and you can pick one or two, then couple it with some ice cream or any toppings on their long list. It is very nice that customers are able to do this, as they might not want anything on the specials menu.

The atmosphere of Shave Monster was ideal. They had Halloween decorations up that were fitting. There are two small leather couches in the center that were comfortable to sit on. The atmosphere was relaxed.

Overall, Shave Monster was a pleasant experience. The physical environment is appealing and the snow fluff and smoothie were both smooth on the tongue. It was definitely a place I would recommend to my friends.
