Last of its Kind or Start of a Revolution?

Not only does the band King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard have a unique name, but they have a sound unlike any other band. From the second I heard the start of their fifth album, I was drawn in by their unfamiliar harmony. With three guitar players, two bass players, two drummers, two singers and a harmonica and flute player, their music will keep you listening and re-playing.

King Gizzard has a 90’s garage band feel with an Indie-like impression; it’s an odd but satisfying mix. The band did in fact originate in their garage in Melbourne, Australia in 2010 and since then the seven band members have recorded six albums, two EP’s and and their own record label (Flightless) within the span of five years.

However, the band still remains largely unknown. Still, underground music does have a small following. King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard have been on an U.S tour, but it came to an end on September 16th in Brooklyn, NY.

Experimenting within the rare genre of neo-psychedelic music, a band like King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard will either be the last of its kind or the start of a revolution.
