On the evening of Monday, December 8 the RHS cafeteria will be transformed into a warm, cheery Christmas bazaar for the annual Thunder Galleria event beginning at 6:30 pm. Here, children who would otherwise be unable to purchase Christmas presents for family members will shop among donated stuffed animals, books, and toys free of charge.

Thunder Galleria board members, elves, and club representatives have been working tirelessly the past few weeks to ensure the event’s success. With the help of a few staff members such as Mrs. Amber Tillery and Mr. Frank Shields, Thunder Galleria senior directors Nick Eittreim and Lexi Yates have planned for a cheerful night of shopping.

CSF, Interact Club, NHS, Dare Club, Fashion Club, Friends Club, Dance, Cheer, and the Peer Counseling programs will all open shops for Thunder Galleria, helping to diversify the available gifts.

Now that the elves and shopkeepers have been trained, the board’s final task is to decorate the cafeteria and foster holiday spirit within the RHS cafeteria. With little work left to be done, the event is sure to be a success.

“Our school is really into community service and volunteering. You’d be amazed at how many kids it takes to put on this whole event. Their commitment is what makes the event successful,” Claire Tooley, a junior Thunder Galleria leader, said.

Most importantly, Thunder Galleria revolves around the children that show up. Countless students have volunteered to serve at the event and give these young shoppers and their families a merry Christmas.

“A positive turn out by Rocklin High students will help make this year successful. If they’re happy, then all the kids that turn out to shop will be happy.” Junior leader Luke Zianno said.
