RHS’ music department finished its first of two concerts Tuesday, December 16 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the school’s theater. Various instrument-focused music classes perform a setlist of songs, with a brief intermission dividing the concert into two parts.
Aniruddh Mukkamala, a junior at RHS, plays alto sax in the schools jazz band. Though he thought that the music department lost players he considered key, he said that the classes played amazingly. A highlight for him, “Besides the solo I performed, I feel that it was honestly just [the atmosphere]. It was electric,” Mukkamala said. “Everybody was actually playing like it was alive”
Shiva Padmanabhan, a percussion player and senior at RHS, also recognized the talent of these classes despite the loss of key players. “It was a big step up from previous years. We’ve had some pretty lackluster repertoire,” said Padmanabhan.
