RHS held its Winter Choral Concert on Friday, December 12 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the theater room. Various voice-based music classes performed a mix of holiday and non holiday-themed songs under the direction of Shawn Spiess, the instructor of these classes.
Tristan Montano, a choir student and a junior at RHS, performed in 18 of the songs. Requiring a lot of practice for him, he sang often while about in his home. “Memorizing the lyrics and just belting it out, my parents told me to shush,” said Montano. For him, performing the songs in front of the crowd and, ” The kids going on stage and just having fun,” made the overall experience great.
Tristan Makieve, a senior at RHS, is involved in multiple music classes at RHS. Performing in 16 songs, he cited “Sleep” by Eric Whitacre as being his favorite to perform for the nuance in its composition and for showing, “How powerful of a choir we are.” Though he remembered facing a nervous start, he was able to get into the groove, becoming an experience he said he, “Won’t forget for a while.”
