The girls varsity tennis team has had a solid season this year. Even though they had a couple tough losses, they pulled through, placing fourth in league and second seed in playoffs.

Emily Dezzani, junior captain, is ready to fight in playoffs.

“It’s kind of cool that we are playing Whitney, because they’re not in our league, so we don’t normally get to play them, even though they are really close to us, so I am excited. It’s going to be fun having senior night the same night.”

Senior Taylor Hopkins is more than thrilled to have senior night and the first playoff game on the same day.

“It feels pretty good reaching playoffs. I’m happy just to make it! It’s pretty weird having senior night then too, because we’ve never done it this way; it’s kind of like an interesting feeling. It’s really fun that we’re gonna play Whitney. It’s a first for us.”

Coach Dale Eckenburg is proud to have his team enter playoffs. He is especially excited that senior night happens to fall on the same night. He is training the team hard, and trying to fix up any struggles they might be having right now.

We are working extensively on doubles, working on better angles and how to beat lobs. We’ve had a great season and our leaders have done a really nice job. Seniors Olivia Kaempf and Taylor Hopkins, along with juniors Medha Dandamudi and Emily Dezzani, have really stepped up. I can’t be more proud of the entire team as they continue to work to get better and cheer each other on. It should be fun because we most likely will be playing Whitney, so that adds some flavor.”

Come out, support the seniors, and watch your girls tennis team play Whitney at home, this Tuesday, November 1st, at 3:00 P.M.
