Every month Sony gives the members of Playstation Plus a free game (or two). Last month they released a game known as Secret Ponchos.

In this game you first must choose a “bandit”. Each bandit has their own perks and quirks, as well as special customizable stats to suit each player’s game style.

After you choose one of 7 bandits, you are placed into a lobby. You can choose to go into a one versus one match was well as a two versus two game. There are no AI-controlled characters, so the entirety of the game is player-versus-player combat.

Within the game, you are put into a third-person, bird’s eye view of the your character, allowing for a wide range of vision throughout the battlefield. Hiding spots are everywhere, so one must be careful not to run into ambushes.

The games ends at 10 minutes, or until the first person has 5 more kills than the other. The maps are very small in comparison to how fast the characters move, allowing for very quick games.

After the end of the game, depending on how many times you die–as opposed to how many times you manage to get a kill–you are assigned an addition to your “bounty”, which can go down if you die too many times. Your bounty is essentially your experience points, in the sense that the more bounty you have, the higher level you are. But be forewarned, if your bounty goes down, you can also go down in level.

Overall, Secret Ponchos is a very fun game. Although the game was only free in Decemer, it is for purchase on Steam for $15. I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoys fast-paced games and player-versus-player games.
