Menchie’s Takes Over Frozen Yogurt
We got the scoop on one of the largest frozen yogurt franchises in the world, finally opening shops in Rocklin and Roseville.
This franchise frozen yogurt shop, called Menchie’s, had just opened stores in our area a few weeks ago. You may think it is just like TOPS or Big Spoon down the street, but this yogurt shop is totally different.
Menchie’s has over 350 shops all over the world including Tokyo, England, Australia, and even Puerto Rico. With its popularity growing, they have different merchandise for sale, ranging from T-shirts to stuffed animals.
The Roseville location (which is the one we went to) is on Galleria Boulevard, in the same shopping center as TGI Friday’s and the Macy’s furniture gallery. The Rocklin location is off of Sierra College Boulevard, near Loomis.
The store has a very colorful, friendly vibe. With neon green walls and colorful animations around the shop, it brings a happy feeling to all of it’s customers. Hung on walls are pictures of customers and what appeared to be fundraisers and community events they had taken part in.
Pop music plays throughout the store and the workers are happy to help out. If you’re new, they’ll let you know how the shop works.
Just like other yogurt shops, you go through the normal routine: walk in, grab a cup, fill it with yogurt, then toppings, and weigh it to check out. This store, however, has extra qualities. When you walk in, there are sample cups laid out on a silver platter for you to take at your convenience, and no one there to strictly enforce a ‘one-per-person’ rule.
Also, you have the choice of homemade waffle cone bowls — freshly made right there on the counter, of course — or a regular sized bowl. Menchie’s does not have additional size bowls, just one standard size.
There are 16 yogurt flavors, 32 toppings plus an additional 12 freshly made toppings like fruit. There are also 5 choices of sauces and syrups.
“We offer such a unique environment that when people come by, they don’t just get a delicious product, they get a full 360 degree experience,” says Amit Kleinberger, CEO of Menchie’s in an interview with Franchise Chatter.
The price is relatively affordable. We both filled up our cups and neither of our prices went over $5. After we checked out, we went to sit at the tables outside. With cheap prices and a friendly atmosphere, the shop looked like a rather attractive hang out. In the shop, there were 5 tables that sat about 3-4 each, plus an additional 4 bar-height tables outside.
The yogurt was satisfactory, we both found the flavor was very accurate to what it had claimed to be. As we were eating we noticed the cashier was wiping down counters and topping containers with a cloth. By the time we left 20-30 minutes later, the worker was still cleaning, which is an encouraging sign for those who desire cleanliness in a business.
The final review: a must-go spot to hang out with friends and family. So, next time you think about where to hang out, seriously consider Menchie’s. It’s quite popular all over the world for a reason!
