RHS Coding Club hosted the first annual Rocklin Competitive Programming Competition (RCPC) on February 8 in computer science teacher Paul Werner’s classroom.
During the competition, small teams worked together to solve problems in order to earn points. The teams with the most points would then advance to compete at a national competition called HPE Codewars.
Senior Alexander Rojo found the RCPC to be difficult, but he felt that it was a “fun challenge.”
The team who placed first won by a few points. One team member, sophomore Riya Kishore, said that her victory was slightly expected because her team “made sure to practice coding.”
Junior Aryavrat Mishra, another team member, said that his team “met up in Starbucks during the weekends to solve practice problems.”
“It’s fun to be in a competitive environment to work with friends to solve problems,” Rojo said.
