Elementary school play
While most people have been focusing on finishing out the school year and AP tests, the Theatre 2/3 class has been getting ready for their annual elementary school play.
Each year, the class writes an original play to perform for different elementary schools and one parent night (the parent night is open to everyone, not just parents).
This year’s play mocks the writing process of a play. The play follows three different groups of kids, the princesses, the superheros, and the musical theatre kids. Each group tries to come up with a scene to perform for the class to see whose is best. The teacher doesn’t want everyone to work separately, so she/he enlists the help of one of the students. The plan is for the student to mess up everyone’s scene to show everyone that they work together as a whole. Of course, it wouldn’t be the elementary school play without the chase scene. The chase scene consists of every person in the play running around the theatre trying to catch Kewart, the student who messes up everyone’s scenes.
The play will be going on during third period for the elementary school kids on May 8, May 16, and May 22. The play is so popular for the kids that they have to add overflow seating.
The free performance for parents and others interested is on May 9 with the first cast from 6-7 and the second cast from 7:30-8:30.
