Rocklin High School (RHS) defeated Whitney High School (WHS) in their annual staff basketball game, but the real victory was the community coming together to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and Student Voices of Youth (SVOY), the event brought the community together for a fun night of competition and giving back.
For some participants, the cause was personal, “Since this charity means a lot to one of my colleagues, it makes it even more special,” said WHS teacher Josh Ansley. “Anytime you can do more than just donate money and actually take part in something, it’s meaningful.”
RHS teacher Jason Adams highlighted the strong sense of community the game fostered. “Everybody had fun, and that’s what it was all about,” he said, also recognizing longtime coach and mentor Coach Hanks. “He’s impacted so many people in our community.”
The crowd cheered as staff played with heart, knowing their efforts would support cancer research and youth advocacy. “We came out to support leukemia research, our fundraising efforts, and to represent Rocklin High,” said RHS teacher Tori Walter.
With every basket and every cheer, the night served as a reminder that coming together for a cause is the biggest win of all.
