The Rocklin High School (RHS) Dance 1 Showcase lit up the theater during the last week of March with a dynamic mix of jazz, lyrical, and hip-hop routines performed by first-year dancers. The performance featured a range of styles and themes, highlighting the progress and passion of students who, for many, were stepping on stage for the very first time.
The showcase opened with Stargazing, a graceful and dreamy piece that set the tone for the evening. From there, the audience was taken on a journey through playful jazz numbers like Stuff Like That There and My Boyfriend’s Back, bold contemporary routines like Maneater, and emotional standouts such as Gilded Lily, which featured stunning lifts and fluid partner work.
Each performance was met with cheers and applause from a packed audience of students, staff, and family members. Costumes ranged from sparkly red dresses to beach-ready shorts and pink tops in California Girls, where props like beach towels and beach balls added to the summer vibe.
“I’m not a dancer, so I was really impressed by all the technique by the dancers” – RHS junior Kennedy Hall
Choreographed by Dance 1 student directors and dance teacher Mrs. Blankenship, the showcase served as a culminating celebration of learning and growth. From mastering turns and leaps to developing confidence and stage presence, the dancers left everything on the floor.
The night ended with roaring applause and proud smiles from performers and supporters alike, proving that hard work, teamwork, and creativity can lead to something truly memorable.
