The RHS varsity volleyball team is stronger than ever this year after their win against Whitney on Sept. 30, with a final score of 3-0.
RHS senior Julia Bray, who plays on the varsity volleyball team, said, “As a team, I’m honestly really proud of us. This is probably our best year yet.”
Currently, the RHS varsity volleyball team is at 24-3, so they are having a very successful season. Like Bray said, they really have been getting better every year. In the 2021-2022 season their stats were 13-17, in the 2022-2023 season their stats were 21-14, and last year they were at 26-11.
Bray added that the team’s new coach has also fueled them to excellence. Bray said the coach has “disciplined us mentally to the point where we’re focusing on the game the entire time.”
Bray also believes that playing as a team has been a huge factor in the team’s success this year. “I feel like playing as a team and being mentally strong together and not individually, is probably the most important part [of being on a volleyball team]. A lot of people tend to perform personally and work on their personal goals and focus less on the team goals themselves which is honestly what matters when it comes to having a record,” Bray said.
