Homecoming is arguably the biggest and most looked forward to event of the Rocklin High School year.

With a multitude of activities happening this week, Homecoming is an amazing way for students to connect to the campus, not just through the dance, but also through the classes coming together to work on a float.

This sense of unity leads to an infectious energy that spreads across the campus during Homecoming week.

It starts this Saturday and Sunday with float construction. This is one of the biggest aspects of Homecoming and involves each individual class meeting at a location to make a class float.

The theme for this year’s homecoming is iconic movies. The freshman class has Back to the Future while the sophomore class has Wizard of Oz, the junior class has Jurassic Park and the seniors are representing Avengers Endgame.

Float construction will run all week long until Thursday when the finishing touches are out on the floats and they are sent to the school in anticipation of the football game.

The whole week also includes dress up days which count toward each classes spirit points.

Homecoming continues with the football game where we will be playing Oakridge. The game begins with a pregame skit featuring characters from all the movies.

At halftime there is, of course, the regular activities: dance, cheer and band. Additionally, there will be a halftime show including this year’s royal court in which the king and queen will be announced and all of royal court will be showcased while they ride in convertibles, waving at their subjects.

Homecoming comes to a close with the dance on Saturday night. Tickets are $15 with ASB and $20 without. The price goes up at the door, increasing to $27.

This semi formal dance is projected to have an attendance of 1500 students.

Homecoming is a great community and school event that unites the school in a variety of ways and bonds the classes individually together.
