An Odd Schedule Change

Mrs. Sarah Blankenship has a full schedule on Blue days

Many Rocklin High teachers have one prep period per day so they can work on grading, homework and making future assignments.

However, this year Mrs. Sarah Blankenship’s schedule had a big change. Instead of having a break once a day, Blankenship does not have a prep period on her blue days. Instead she has two prep periods on her silver days during first and last block.

“That was a decision I made, they absolutely would have done three and three. It was just so important to me, to have all of my classes in the dance room,” Blankenship says.

Her silver days start off with an Aerobic Fitness class, and after, she has three Dance One classes. It was so important for her to have the dance room available for all of her classes that she decided that she was going to make this schedule change in order for this to happen. Despite the fact that her blue days are so full and busy, Blankenship loves it.

It was really challenging last year for Blankenship, because not all of her dance and aerobic classes were in the dance room.

She had a prep period during her blue days but that meant that her class had to be in the small gym and that’s not where she wanted to teach it. So, in order Blankenship to have all of her classes in the dance room, the aerobic fitness had to be on her and Mrs. Abby Huber’s prep.

Blankenship enjoys her new schedule because she gets to have all three dance one classes on the same day, and she thinks that starting her day off with aerobic fitness is great.

Blankenship feels great about her decision. All of her classes are in the dance room and she has plenty of time to get everything done on her silver days.

“I love it! This schedule change was so worth it and I would totally do it again,” Blankenship says.

Although having all four classes on one day full, Mrs. Blankenship loves the opportunity it gives for all her students to use the dance room.
