End-of-the-Year Wishes
The end of the year is finally here! Rocklin High School students are getting excited that they no longer have to drag themselves out of bed to come to school for a while. But what if you had the opportunity to go back, to change or do something differently, would that make you feel differently about school?
“I wish I stuck with softball instead of doing it only one year”, Kaitlyn Solomon tells, “and I wish I held back on taking so many AP classes, they just didn’t help me as much as I had hoped.” Kaitlyn is currently taking 5 AP classes this year.
Senior Zach Diele remarks, “I wish I got into ASB so I could put together and lead the rallies instead of just performing in them.” Zach is one of the most spirited students on campus, getting involved with all things theater and then performing skits in almost all of our rallies.
“I wish I personally socialized with a larger variety of people and groups,” junior Christian Mendoza explains, “I see all these different people out on campus and just wish I got to know more of them than I did.”
Rocklin High School has close to 2,000 students attending, so it is always encouraged that you get out and meet as many of them as you can. You never know; your next best friend could be out there somewhere!
Junior Hunter Aroz explained, “I wish I took more AP classes, or any harder classes that I didn’t take. I should have challenged myself more than I did.”
Upon asking freshman Jacob Mead what he would do differently, he responded, “I wish I didn’t just take the easy route with my science classes, it kind of messed with my schedule for future years and now I cannot take all of the science classes that I had hoped.” He explained that he should’ve taken the opportunity to take biology as a freshman instead of taking the other option, earth science.
Senior Taylor Creech commented, “I wish I got more into the AP language arts and literature classes instead of pushing myself so hard in math. Writing is my true passion and I feel like I would have really enjoyed taking the classes.”
Taylor also added in the end of her interview that, “Lower classes, get involved while you can! Make the most of high school so when you do look back on the years, you won’t really have an answer for that what would you do differently question.”
To wrap up, all of these responses have one thing in common, all of these students wish they did something that they passed up the opportunity to do earlier on. So a tip for next year: do it all. Go to the games, the dances, take all of the classes that you please, and make as many friends as you can. High School is one of the most memorable chapters in your life and you don’t want to remember it for the “I should have.”
