Your Story, Your School: Brittney Bryant

When we are little, we tend to make art. We do arts and crafts in preschool, VAPA in elementary, art in middle school, and then possibly go as far as AP Studio Art in high school. However, not everyone makes it that far. But Junior Brittney Bryant never stopped.

“I’ve been drawing ever since I remember,” said Brittney. “My mom is really good at drawing and so is my dad. My mom inspired me.”

Ever since elementary school, she has been involved in art. “I did Art 7th and 8th grade. I was in Art 2 in 8th grade.”

Since Brittney has left Granite Oaks, Mrs. Lema has started Art Club which is on every Wednesday. “I still visit Mrs. Lema on Wednesdays when she has her art club meetings.”

When Brittney came to Rocklin High her freshman year, she signed up to take Art. That year, she also figured out that she didn’t want to pursue her past dream of becoming a veterinarian, but instead go into something that deals with art.

“I don’t know specifically what I want to do, but I want it to involve art. Character design would be fun,” said Brittney.

Art isn’t just something she does for school or in her free time for fun, though. She also turns toward art, “…if I am stressed or have extreme emotions, I convey them through art and drawing.”

And when she does make art, it always seems to turn out well. This is thanks to all the art classes she has taken at Rocklin High. Right now, she is in Art 3 and wants to pursue AP Studio Art next year.

Since being in art, she has been able to find her own style and has been inspired by other students. “Kelsey Sorg and Erin Hopkins inspire me. They are so good.”

She has also been able to improve her art by drawing and practicing in her free time which she does often because “I really like sketching with pen and pencil, but I also like painting.”

Though she doesn’t know what the future holds for her, Brittney’s future is bright and will most definitely involve her art.
