Small Acts With Larger Impacts

Did you know that 748 million people do not have access to safe, clean, drinking water? And out of that 748 million, 1,000 children die every day from diseases caused by unsafe water? That’s a lot of people. In effort to provide safe drinking water to the millions worldwide, UNICEF has partnered with Giorgio Armani Fragrances in what they call the UNICEF Tap Project. In fact, everyone with a cell phone can help make a difference. For every 15 minutes a user spends not using their cellphone through uniceftapproject.org and the company will donate the funding equivalent of one day of water to a person in need. This project will stay active until March 31.

Very similar to the Tap Project in regards to the act of giving is the website freerice.com. Freerice is a non-profit website that is owned and supported by the United Nations World Food Programme. On the website, you can pick a subject, such as Spanish, vocabulary, or even math, and answer questions. For each question you get right, you donate ten grains of rice. Not only are you helping those in need, but educating yourself as well.

If you’re an animal lover, then you’ll love freekibble.com. Organized like Freerice, Freekibble gives you a trivia question and whether you answer it correctly or not, you will donate ten pieces of kibble. The website is able to do so because of the advertisers and sponsors seen on the page. Since 2008, Freekibble has donated over 2 billion pieces of kibble to dogs and cats in need.

These are just a few of the many sites that donate, and with everyone’s help, we can help reach out and aid the ones in need.
