RHS Student In Hit and Run
Fellow RHS Junior, Gage Givan, is currently in a lawsuit regarding a hit and run incident.
Gage Givan was collecting shopping carts in the Savemart parking lot during his shift on October 17, 2014 when a driver ran over his foot and tore two of the three major ligaments and partially tore his achilles tendon.
“I asked the guy who was driving the car for his insurance and then he said ‘Oh, yeah, sure,’ and then he just drove away,” said Gage.
Luckily, Gage was able to remember the driver’s license plate. Because the driver did not give his insurance information, however, it is classified as a hit and run.
Now, Gage is suing the man, which he says is extremely complicated, “it’s a lot of steps and court takes a long time to finalize and it’s just a long process.” His parents are dealing with the case, so he does not know the exact amount he is suing for.
When the incident occurred, he was able to take a two months paid leave from Savemart. The company is also currently paying his medical bills as well. Since then, Gage has returned to Savemart and is waiting for the case to finalize.
