An inspiration, someone you look up to, something everyone has. Some people’s idols are people they have never met, a celebrity they dream of meeting. In another case, Sierra Holland’s idol is one of her closest friends, who increasingly is becoming famous.

Jacob Whitesides, a seventeen year old, was on the verge of popularity when he began posted videos of him singing on Youtube. He gained more fans when he switched Youtube for Vine.

He attended Magcon, a convention for people to meet popular social media celebrities, as a guest, but while there he gained some recognition and his fandom grew. Later on, with sold out tours on both the East and West coasts, he was surrounded by fans and popularity, including EP’s on ITunes and many subscribers on Youtube and Vine.

“Jacob is a big part of my life since he is one of my closest friends. But, throughout his popularity he has remained humble.  He does not let the fame change where he comes from.”

Sierra met Jacob through one of her best friends. Her friend, Sierra Whitesides, introduced her to her brother, Jacob. They immediately connected and since then their friendship has grown tremendously, despite his uproaring fame.

When asked if Jacob had ever helped her out, she explained he had a show in Los Angeles, that was already sold out. She was disappointed because she wanted to see him but in her surprise, Jacob got her tickets for free so she could see the sold out show.

“If I could describe Jacob in one word I would say either genuine or humble,” said Sierra.

While so many people after they gain popularity change their image and are influenced in a negative way, he remains the same caring person he was before, and doesn’t let the fame change who he really is.

“He realizes if it wasn’t because of his fans he wouldn’t be where he is today. He treats his fans very fairly, and is a genuine, caring person.”

Sierra feels that through his popularity he will remain himself and not change his image to try to fit in, causing Sierra to look up to him as an inspiration and great friend.

She cannot wait to watch their friendship grow, and watch him be enflamed in popularity and fame, and continue to be a success and role model to teens to remain themselves.
