National Day of Prayer
Today, Christians from all around Placer County joined together at William Jessup University for the National Day of Prayer. Every year, the first Thursday in May is the event.
During the event, Christians gathered to hear 10 people give a quick message and then pray over certain people, places, or careers. They also had a keynote speaker. The speaker was Lee Strobel, a Christian pastor and author who used to be an atheist. Hearing him talk was amazing.
The other prayer leaders were:
-
Former Senator George Runner was their to pray for our Government.
-
Chief Ron Lawrence from the Rocklin Police Department prayer for our public safety personnel
-
Major Drew Townsend, a U2 pilot for our Air Force prayed for our Military
-
Brenda Price, an on-air personality for Air1 Radio prayed for the media
-
Rick Wylie, the President of Beutler Corporation prayed for our business community
-
Paul Oropallo, the Director of Human Resources for the San Juan Unified School District prayed for our schools
-
Tory Wilson, a Church Planting Pastor in the heart of San Francisco prayed for our churches
-
Lamar Holloway, the director of Youth Ministries at Bayside of South Sacramento prayed for our families and youth
-
Dr. Linda Williams, the Foster and Homeless Youth Liaison for Sierra College prayed for our less advantaged
At the event, Dr. John Jackson, the president of William Jessup University did opening and closing remarks at the event. It was a pretty moving event, hearing how God has worked in everyone’s lives in different ways.
Being able to connect with other Christians around the area through prayer is an amazing experience that many got to have today thanks to all who put this event together. If you ever get the chance to go to it, say yes and go! It is something worth experiencing.
