New club gives the word care new meaning

Reading is a very important skill in life.  It opens doors to new opportunities and encourages the young mind to imagine and learn.  I have always loved to read, because I began reading at a very young age. I have reaped the benefits of this love my whole life, and want to help young children develop the same skills.  This is why Rachel MacMaster and I cofounded Give C.A.R.E (Give Children A Reading Experience).

The purpose of Give C.A.R.E is to provide a positive reading experience for children.  We want to encourage kids to love books, and show them how amazing reading is.  If kids can recognize the importance of literature at a young age, they are more likely to excel in other areas of school and be more successful overall.

We are starting small, within the reaches of our community, by helping out local libraries and classrooms.  In the greater Sacramento area there are schools that really struggle to provide their students with basic classroom supplies.  The administration can’t worry about having an adequate supply of books, because their focus is directed towards basic student needs.  The members of Give C.A.R.E hope to aid these schools through book drives.  We will be holding book drives at school in the upcoming weeks.  These books will be donated to school libraries and classrooms in the area.

Give C.A.R.E is just getting started, but we have a great vision and can’t wait to start serving!  Reading is a small skill, but it can have a huge impact on a child’s life.
