On Tuesday, March 4th, your Rocklin High Thunder took town the Bullard Knights visiting from Fresno. It was an up-and-down game for the Thunder as they got off to a slow start. Rocklin headed into halftime down 8 and came back in the 2nd half as a new team outscoring the Knights by 17 in the 2nd half. With a final score of 70-61, the Thunder keep their hunt for a state championship alive! Senior Mark Lavrenov had a huge game and no one was stopping him at the rim. The team completely flipped a switch in the 2nd half and never looked back.
Senior Connor Delaby said, “We came out a little bit slow, but it feels good, I knew we were gonna battle back. We’ve been battling through adversity all year so it feels great to win.” It was an outstanding win for the Thunder tonight, the hard work they have been putting in all season was on the line and they showed up when it mattered most. Coach Taylor said, “I’m just excited for our kids, they work so hard and they deserve to continue to play. It wasn’t pretty in the 1st half but it shows the character of these guys… They’re always going to compete.” Rocklin has one more game to win before they compete for the State Championship. They will play Clayton Valley Charter on Thursday as they look to keep the momentum going and bring home a banner! An amazing performance from your Thunder, fueled by the energy of the student section and the parents!
