Rocklin took an early 2-0 lead, with Siri Coyne (#10) scoring to put the Thunder in control. But Granite Bay battled back, equalizing in the final minutes of regulation to force overtime. The championship was on the line, and Rocklin needed a hero. That hero was Elise Mullican (#4), who delivered the game-winning overtime goal to put Rocklin ahead 3-2. From there, the Thunder’s defense held strong, fighting off every Granite Bay attack to clinch the victory.
For Coach Barnette, the win was the culmination of years of hard work: “It feels amazing. We came close last year, we came close the year before. Finally, we were resilient—went up early, had a little mess-up, and then bam, back at it in overtime. It’s a great feeling. I’m so happy for the girls—they have earned everything this year.” With the championship secured, Rocklin’s season ends in glory, a testament to their relentless effort, teamwork, and unwavering belief.
