On September 20th, the Rocklin Thunder suffered their first loss of the season to the Folsom Bulldogs. With a final score of 51-14, the Thunder’s record goes to 3-1. After an eventful first half, Rocklin found themselves trailing 24-7. Unfortunately, the Thunder could not flip the switch after halftime and would only score once more. Despite the loss, the Thunder are off to a great start and Senior Derek Keeley had another amazing game with two touchdowns. Keeley had this to say about the expectations for the rest of the season, “We’re just gonna bounce back, I think that’s the only game we’re losing. We’re gonna take this to heart and we’re just gonna bounce back for sure.” Cheerleader Abbey Beers had this to say about staying positive during a tough game, “I feel like keeping a smile on your face makes it more enjoyable for yourself, even though it’s not very fun to watch. So just keeping positive and continuing to be hype.”
The Thunder look ahead next week to the Jesuit Marauders who sit at a record of 3-1 as well. The last time these two teams faced off was in the playoffs of the 2022-23 season and Rocklin took the win 34-13. They look to repeat that performance and improve their record to 4-1.
