On Friday, September 6th the Rocklin Football team took on the Lincoln of Stockton Trojans. The game started close but ended with Rocklin demolishing Lincoln winning 43-3 now making their record 3-0. The 1st quarter started rough with Rocklin putting up zero points, then after that, Rocklin hit a new gear and started to find their way. Senior Rafi Merino who had four touchdowns this game and was a huge contributor to this win, said, “We weren’t as explosive in the first half, as we wanted to be. We went at halftime, we had some discussions, and we came out as the team we should [have been]. It was great.”
Merino rushed for 98 yards with four touchdowns, he led the team in carriers with an average of 8.9 yards a carry. Other players like Maverick Collins and Mikey Cunningham both led the team in receiving having a combined 129 yards with two touchdowns. Rocklin has a bye week this week so there will be no game this Friday. So for the next two weeks, the team will prepare for probably their toughest opponent all season, the Folsom Bulldogs. The game will be held at Folsom on September 20th and will be a tough test for your Rocklin Thunder.
