On Saturday, April 13, the track and field Thunder Invitational was held at Rocklin High School. The Rocklin girls team scored 66 points, putting them in second place out of 13 teams, and the boys team scored 63 points, landing them in third place out of 12 teams. The 4×400 race took place last, and both Rocklin’s girls and boys team won first place.
On the girls team, senior Bella Morales, sophomore Allie Harman, junior Janelle Franco, and junior Elise Mullican ran 4:25 for the 4×400 relay. The weather was an obstacle for both teams with it raining during the whole meet. Franco said, “Especially this late in the season and such a rainy meet it can get hard to run.” Morales said, “Allie is a new member of our 4×4. She came from distance and has done really good.” The girls had a race at their third section meet as this team and have seen success so far. Harman said, “I think the girls taught me a lot and I’m ready for the rest of the season.”
On the boys team, sophomore Brody Sanders, junior Gabriel Julian, senior Liam Vestal, and senior Jordan Ventura ran 3:38. Ventura said, “I was last leg. My guys put me in a good position and we train in this weather so I was happy with the results we got.” The RHS Track sprint and distance team also raced each other during the relay. Sanders said, “Coming out of the first curve trying to beat the other Rocklin kid was a challenge but we got past them.”
