A Fresh Start for Students
Students Start the Second Semester with High Hopes
After a long five months of the 2018-2019 school year, the first semester grades at Rocklin have finally been entered and students now begin the second semester. After two weeks of break, everyone starts off 2019 with straight A’s and another chance at academic and personal success.
From freshman just beginning their high school career to seniors anxiously awaiting acceptance into their dream schools, the second semester is an exciting opportunity to show teachers, parents and yourself exactly what you are capable of academically.
“It’s my last semester of school and I really wanna see what I’m capable of. I’ve already gotten into colleges but I want to finish my academic career strong.,” said senior Mariah Wayne.
Grades are a priority for the majority of students at Rocklin High, especially for those aspiring to attend an elite college, and second semester reset can serve as a saving grace for those who struggled in the fall. Students could raise their grade point average significantly in just six months, improving their chance of success in the future.
The new school year also brings about new opportunities to get involved with the school. The spring musical offers an exciting way to get involved in the theatre program. Similarly, sports during the spring season, such as lacrosse and stunt, begin tryouts. These new activities are easy ways to bring individuals closer to their school and community in a way they may have missing during first semester.
“It is so cool that Rocklin keeps getting so many new sports like lacrosse! It’s nice that everyone can be a part of a team even if they haven’t played a sport before,” said junior Olivia Andrews.
Successful or not during the first semester of school, the second half of the year is a fresh start where students can continue to thrive in their high school career or turn around a difficult experience. There is always room for improvement, especially with the resources and opportunities available for students at RHS.
