Significant amount of schedule changes in second semester

Semester+Changes

Second semester can be considered as a fresh start whether it be your grades, talking to new people or even changing a class that you aren’t happy with in some cases. This year at Rocklin, a significant amount of people got a schedule change for the second semester.

The counselors state that you cannot get a schedule change once you are issued your classes, because they are, “year long classes that you are stuck with.” Despite this rule, many students acquire the ability to in fact get a schedule change.

A junior at Rocklin, Phil Jacques, got his schedule changed because he wanted, “two study hall periods, so I got [my schedule] arranged for that. [I changed]  my math periods around for it,” Jacques explains. The process for him was easy and simple, and quicker than most.

Not only juniors got their schedule changed, sophomores and seniors did as well. Although the rate of freshman was not as high as the rest of the classes.

For years, students have been getting their schedules changed, but this year, the number boomed and we don’t know why. Maybe it was more students taking advantage of the counselors and requesting changes, or maybe certain classes have not been working out.
