Pushed Him to the Edge

Lil Uzi Vert announces he’s stepping away from music

On January 10, Lil Uzi Vert shocked the world when he announced he was retiring from music.

On his Instagram story he announced, ”I wanna take the time out to say I thank each and everyone of my supports but I’m done with music I deleted everything I wanna be normal.”

Uzi is one of the most popular rappers in the world. XO Tour Llif3 had close to a billion streams on Spotify, with many other songs having over 100 million streams.

Uzi has also had a successful career so far with his projects. Luv Is Rage 2 debuted at no. 1 on the top 200 billboard albums chart. He has released three mixtapes that have all been successful as well.

In 2016 Lil Uzi was placed on the XXL Freshmen list. It combines the most popular and upcoming artists of the year. Uzi was placed with Denzel Curry, 21 Savage, Kodak Black and Lil Yachty. Being on the XXL freshmen list is considered to be an honor, due to it being an exclusive list.

When Uzi announced he was stepping away from music, many were shocked. Uzi was expected to release his second studio album, Eternal Atake within the next couple of months. Fans had been waiting for a year and a half for another project to be released by him.

Super fan and sophomore at Rocklin High Dylan Branco says, “Lil Uzi changed my life. What he said about his new Patek was eye opening.”

On Twitter, Uzi was trending after his announcement. Many were shocked and surprised, others were making jokes about the situation. Either way, people were talking about the situation and there was buzz about it.

However, one popular theory is Uzi cannot actually quit, because he signed a contract to Atlantic records that he has to fulfill. Uzi has dropped only one album while signed and is expected to drop at least a couple more. Others think that this is only a hoax and it is just a way to promote Eternal Atake and get people talking about him.

Overall, Lil Uzi Vert’s announcement that he is quitting music has been hard news for many and a controversial topic in the music industry recently. Either way, it’s Uzi’ decision on if he wants to continue making music, but he has the support of millions.
