As break begins, the next two weeks mean free time for high school students. The holidays also brings cold weather, and extra family time. This time is often spent at the movies, box offices have anticipated this and release some of the year’s biggest hits right before Christmas.

As of last week, December 12, Mortal Engines and Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse are now playing in theaters.

From the creators of Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, Mortal Engines is a story of the city of London on wheels. If you find yourself a fan of mythical movies of adventure, and potential danger this movie may be a great watch.

Although critics have questioned the plot of Mortal Engines people do not deny that this movie is nevertheless an entertaining watch.

Spider-man: Into the Spider Verse is also been labeled an entertaining watch. Critics love Sony Animation’s ability to bring the animation back to its comic book roots. The idea of the Spider Verse is that there are multiple Spidermen from different universes.

December 13, Aquaman was released and December 19 Mary Poppins Returns is now playing. Both these box office hits are expected to be hits this holiday season. In addition the anticipated Bumblebee drops Friday December 20.

Receiving a 67% on Rotten Tomatoes, “Aquaman swims with its entertainingly ludicrous tide, offering up CGI superhero spectacle that delivers energetic action with an emphasis on good old-fashioned fun.” the Rotten Tomatoes critic consensus said.

The actor who portrays Aquaman, Jason Momoa has received lots of media coverage and people everywhere were anticipating watching him on the big screen.

Fellow beloved actress, Emily Blunt, stars in Mary Poppins Returns. As another anticipated movie people are excited to see this classic remade and returned to theaters. Receiving a 7.3 out of 10 on IMdb, Bumblebee starring Hailee Steinfeld, John Cena and Dylan O’brien is another fun family to movie to enjoy over break.

Taking a break from the original transformers series, the creators decided to create a movie dedicated to everyone’s favorite Transformer.

With plenty of movies to enjoy over break the movies are expected to be a very busy place, and select seating fillas up fast. If you plan on seeing a movie be sure to book ahead and reserve the best seats possible.
