Rocklin at the Golden One Center
Rocklin High School basketball team is moving up the ranks
The Rocklin High Basketball team is having an exceptional year, perhaps the best in a decade. They currently have 12 wins and one loss, and don’t seem to be slowing down one bit. This year Rocklin is ranked 18th best in the California and 73rd in the Country, by MaxPreps.
One reason they are having so much success is from the size of the team, not the amount of people, but the size of them. The players average six foot two inches, an above average team for Rocklin.
The team is also ranked first in section division, section, and state division. Being ranked number one in state division is an outstanding accomplishment, but the real challenge is trying to win state. Rocklin basketball hasn’t been to a state championship since the 2008-09 team took second.
Rocklin has a great offense, averaging just over 78 points per game, as well as an amazing defense, averaging around 56 points against. The team’s only loss came from Clovis West High School, the 11th ranked team in the state and 39th in the country, Clovis won 84-70.
Rocklin’s next game is at the newly built Sacramento Kings’ stadium, Golden 1 Center. They play Del Campo High in a neutral non-conference game, on Saturday, December 22nd. Del Campo is the underdog in this game, as they have a five win-four loss record, and are ranked 292 in the state and outside the top 3,000 in the country.
