An Inside Look on the Basketball Season
Tuesday and Thursday nights, screaming from the bleachers, looking from left to right. The ball dribbles up and down the court, the intensity rising by the second as the ball gets closer to the net. Football is officially over, and now we can enjoy the warm gym and entertainment of basketball. Rocklin High is extremely proud of its sports programs, and at the top of the list, is basketball.
Mr. Stephen Taylor, boys varsity basketball coach, is very excited for the season ahead of us.
“We expect to have a very successful season. We expect to work hard as a team, play together, and have fun throughout the season,” he says.
One of the best things about basketball games is winning and celebrating with your friends.
“We should compete for an SFL championship and make a deep run in the play-offs. We expect to play an uptempo, exciting style of basketball that will be fun for people to watch.”
Practice makes perfect!
“We are going to work hard each day in practice, improve as the season goes on, and challenge one another to be the best team possible. We feel that how we practice has a direct correlation to how we play in the games. We expect our players to push themselves and each other in practice. Our practices should be harder then the games. We create a competitive atmosphere in practice where playing time is earned,” Taylor adds.
With the team’s confidence going into the games ahead of them, the upcoming season sounds like it’s going to be one of Rocklin’s best.
