Wrestling expanding their program with adding a girls team
Wrestling season is just kicking off. With a new head coach, Gus Barone, they are very excited for the upcoming season, as they have a very touch and exciting schedule.
“We have some returning wrestlers who will do really good this year and some new ones that we expect great things out of,” said Coach Barone.
They are starting a girls team this year that they are very excited about. They currently have six girls to start the girls team.
Coach Barone said that there are four coaches for the teams but he says, “we are all a team and coach everyone.”
Senior Max Pitts said, “I think we should be good this year. We have a lot of kids returning that were from varsity this year.”
With a new coaching staff, there is a lot to adjust to. Junior Josh Pitts said, “I think we are going to be good, but this year is more of a transition year to adjust to the new coaches.”
Overall, both the coaches and the players are optimistic about the season.

You’ve had girls wrestling for a while. You had a girl when I coached who placed 3rd in state (Rocklin’s highest state placer in school history) her junior and senior year and went on to be an NCAA All-American and competed in the 2016 Olympic Trials.
Just an fyi, so you don’t overlook the best wrestler RHS has seen
