Anticipating League Championships
Water Polo last league game is a crucial one for the boys JV and Varsity teams
An unexpected win leads to a shot at the league championship. As the fall sports league begins to finalize, the boys Varsity Water Polo team is anticipating a big win.
As of now, Rocklin is on track to take first place in the league. The team they knew their most challenging match was going to be against Granite Bay. The stakes were high considering their first match against the team was a loss.
“After beating Granite Bay we were pretty excited because they beat us the first time, so when we beat them the second time that was huge because it gave us a chance to win league.” varsity player Jack Wildenradt said.
On Tuesday the Varsity boys played against Oak Ridge, the only other team besides Rocklin to beat Granite Bay. The boys were anticipating this game to be the last crucial match of the season. The match went well for the Rocklin boys as they won 14-6.
“We were pretty pumped up, because that was supposed to be our toughest game left, and we handled it a lot better than we thought we would.” Jack said.
Tonight will be the teams final match against Whitney. Winning this match will name them the solo champions of SFL for the first time in years.
The Varsity team is not the only successful team this fall season. The junior varsity team is also dominating the competition. Their game tonight will also determine whether or not they secure a league championship.
The junior varsity team has done extremely well and their future is very bright for their incoming high school years.
The games tonight will begin at 3:45 with the girls, and the boy’s games will begin at 5:45.
Come out to support the teams, and the seniors who will be celebrating their final home water polo game of their high school career.
