The varsity boys basketball team has officially hit the midway point in their challenging league schedule. With multiple single digit losses to begin league play, the Thunder holds a league record of 2-5 with an overall record of 10-12.

Despite their record, Thunder  defeated Oak Ridge, which is the number ten team in Sacramento, while also suffering close losses to top teams, such as Del Oro and Woodcreek.

The Thunder faced  their biggest test of the season, but lost a tough bout against the second-ranked Folsom Bulldogs. Next up for the Thunder is a talented Del Oro squad lead by senior Chris Aibuedefe and junior Andre Treadwell. The Golden Eagles boast an impressive 15-6 record to go along with a 4-3 record in Sierra Foothill League play.

Standouts for the Thunder include sophomore guard Darius Kendall and junior sharpshooter Cory Gohl to go along with solid play from senior big man Carson Sparks. The Thunder will need solid play and key victories over higher ranked teams in order to qualify for the postseason.

The Thunder look to play spoiler at Del Oro and hope for a much needed victory that could provide serious playoffs implications.
