Homecoming week has finally arrived and the entire Rocklin student body is invited to get involved with their classes float. Float construction began the weekend before the highly anticipated homecoming week.
Students from each class volunteer to hold float construction at their own houses all week. This is a huge commitment that involves not only the volunteers families but also the Rocklin community that lives in the neighborhoods where “floco” takes place.

Many neighbors of the volunteers may elect to lend their driveways or lawns to increase space for students to work or have to give up street parking due to the influx of students all going to the same house.

“I’m hosting the junior float construction at my house and I live in a court so my whole neighborhood is packed,” said Junior Aleah Schotsal.
Another important component of float construction is class participation. ASB class officers are diligently encouraging students to attend float construction, and for good reason. Without the hard work of many students floats would be extremely difficult if not impossible to complete in the time for the Friday football game.

“The main thing for a winning float is getting class participation, the more people that show up the better the float,” said Class Officer Isaiah Garcia.
So far each class is floats are coming along well and are said to be completely finished in time if students want to gain spirit points for their class, attending float construction is a must for floco will be held every day until the day of the homecoming game Friday, October 20. All of the pomping, painting , and construction will pay off when the floats are revealed at the game. The homecoming floats are an exciting and crucial part of the football game that the entire Rocklin community gets to enjoy thanks to the hard work of countless RHS students in each class.
