Groupie Love for Lana
San Francisco Show Sells Out
September 15, 2017
Lana Del Rey’s latest concert drew in fans by the thousands on Tuesday night; a sold out show at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco. The line to get in travelled around the venue and down the street. Some camped. Others arrived in the wee hours of the morning to wait.
“I got there at 4 AM and I was not expecting there to be as many people as there were,” RHS senior Taylor Olivas reflects, “I realized I was actually seeing Lana Del Rey and it made the wait to get in go so much faster.”
In a burst of green light, Lana emerged on stage around 9:00 that night, the crowds screaming her name over and over again until finally, her first notes rang out.
Popular hits from the past such as Blue Jeans, Cruel World, and Summertime Sadness played, as well as a haunting surprise interpretation of Off to the Races. Mixed in were new songs from her recently released album Lust for Life.
“It was very hot and sweaty. I was basically on the bar, getting squished and trampled but it was worth it. At one point at the very end she came down and greeted all of her fans, and I was one of the lucky ones who got to greet her.”
Despite the heat, the sweat, and the mild suffocating atmosphere permeating the crowd including multiple fainting spells, most everyone made it through the show standing and cheering to the end.
“The set and the whole experience in general was unforgettable.”
